The Fairlane Club of America National Meet for 2014 will be in Dearborn, Michigan, home of all things FORD! Our host hotel, and site of our show, is the Adoba Hotel Dearborn, 600 Town Center Dr, Dearborn, MI 48126-2793.

This is our main FCA event, open to all club members. We welcome new members to the club at any time. See New Member Signup on this site for more information.

Our club and show include Ford’s 1962-1976 Fairlanes and Torinos and intermediate Mercurys produced within those years.

Please note: Pre-Registration is by mail only. Form is in Fairlaner, and also pinned at the top of the Watercooler Forum.

National Meet Registration fees: Member bringing car to show - $15; member attending without car - $5; no charge for family members or friend attending with you. If you are not yet a member you may join the club and then register for the show. Yearly FCA dues are $35 for U.S. members; $47 for Canadian members; and $64 for all other members. (Increase in cost outside the U.S. is to offset bi-monthly mailing fees for Fairlaner magazine.)

We are pleased to announce that the Thunderbolt Owners Association will join us to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 1964 Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt Reunion will bring together current and original owners, plus drivers, builders and mechanics, for informative and entertaining conversations with stories of the glory days of Thunderbolt drag racing. We are excited to share the showfield with these great cars, and the legendary people associated with them.

Show day begins Saturday morning, June 28, at 8 am. Registration is open until 11 am, when participant voting begins. A lunch concession will be available onsite.

While most cars will enter participant voting classes, judging will take place for the Unrestored Original and Concours classes. Judged cars must be pre-registered, and pre-registration is recommended for all cars being entered. Pre-Registration form and list of classes are included in Fairlaner magazine and in the Watercooler forum.

Our Awards Program (an event in itself!) will begin at 7 pm on Saturday evening at the hotel. Watch for more information on the National here and in Fairlaner magazine.

Hotel reservations are available now by calling 313-592-3622 and asking for the Fairlane Club of America rate, or by visiting www.adobadearborn.com and entering the code: FLCA. Our special room rate is $99 plus tax, 1-4 occupancy, from June 22 through July 2 to allow for longer visits to the area. Reserve by June 15, but reserve early for best availability.

Additional Information for Club members, added February 2014:

Pre-registration (by 6/9/14) is strongly suggested to help us to prepare class parking space allotments, sufficient materials, show shirts, printed nametags, and to save both you and our volunteer registrars a tremendous amount of time at the show.

As you’ll see on the form, for Concours and Unrestored Original classes only, you will list your car’s VIN and data codes. These classes require pre-registration. Please note: You may not pre-register if you do not know which car you will bring. Forms will be returned to you if they are incomplete.

Security coverage in show parking will begin Thursday 10 pm, Friday 5 pm, and Saturday 6 pm, all until 6 am.

Our National is by members for members, so please take a turn volunteering in some capacity in support of your club! Families are welcome, and we love to have spouses lend a helping hand. Come make some new friends!

Don’t forget your National Grocery Guess items! Bring a non-perishable product or two from your locale, along with the purchase price and product name written on a slip of paper. Turn these in at the Raffles table when you arrive. The person who guesses closest to the total purchase price of all displayed items gets to take them all home on Saturday evening!

Now, let’s see what’s so exciting about Dearborn in 2014. Since many of our folks like to come in early, our schedule starts on Thursday afternoon and runs through departure Sunday morning.

For Thursday: Tour the Roush Automotive Collection. Caravan from the hotel, departing at 12:30 to arrive for a 1 pm tour. (Open til 3:30 pm.) This is a 30,000 sq. ft. private facility that includes displays, multi-media exhibits, artifacts, memorabilia and 110+ vehicles dedicated to the preservation of Roush Enterprises heritage. (No fee.) http://www.roushcollection.com/about.html.

On Friday: Our first activity will be driving Ford’s High Speed Test Track at the Dearborn Development Center. Members will line up in their club cars (if you have room for fellow members without a ride, please raise your hand!) at 8:50 am for a 9:10 departure. There will be a waiver that must be signed in advance. These will be collected in the line-up so please have yours ready to go. This will be an abbreviated visit to the Test Track, due to DDC scheduling constraints. Caravan over with escort to arrive at 9:30 am and be led onto the Track in single file fashion. No fee, and absolutely no photography will be permitted. (Plan to be escorted out of the center if you violate this rule. Plan to have many unhappy fellow members chasing you if you jeopardize this outing for future Meets.)

From the Track, we will shoot over to the Fairlane Town Center Mall across from the Adoba hotel for a rest stop and early refueling at A & W with some all-American food (Root Beer float, anyone?) before heading off at 12:30 for a 1 pm tour at Detroit’s Ford Piquette Avenue Plant, birthplace of the Model T, and only early auto factory open to visitors. Reported to be on any true Ford guy’s ‘bucket list,’ plan to spend some time experiencing fascinating history in the very place that history was made more than 100 years ago. ($10 per person entrance fee.) http://www.tplex.org/1_overview.html.

There will be a meeting with Senior Club Judge Marty Burke for all judges and assistants at 4 pm on Friday afternoon in Regency A. Then, at 4:30 pm, Ken Woodall will host a Mini-Meets meeting in Regency A. If you are a current Mini-Meet host, have an interest in, or are considering volunteering to host an FCA Mini-Meet, this will be a great time for an exchange of ideas and tips for success. Please contact Marty or Ken if you plan to attend either of these meetings.

For a very special opportunity on Friday evening, consider the following:

50th Anniversary Thunderbolt Reunion to be held in conjunction with the Fairlane Club of America 2014 National Meet, Dearborn MI.

A private dinner and social event have been organized by the Thunderbolt Owners Association to commemorate this milestone and to honor the Ford Motor Company, Dearborn Steel Tubing personnel involved with the Thunderbolt project, the owners, drivers, and mechanics from this era. This event is being held in the Grand Ballroom - Adoba Hotel - Dearborn, on Friday 27 June 2014, commencing 5 pm until 11 pm, featuring a vehicle display, memorabilia, and celebratory cake.

Tickets for this event include a multi-course buffet dinner, coffee, tea, and dessert. $55 per person, in advance. Cash bar will be available. Business casual or neat attire is suggested.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be a limited number of tickets available. Ticket sales are first come, first serve, so submit your order early! As advance headcount to the hotel is required, there will be NO plans for ticket sales at the door.

20th, 30th, 40th, and 45th Reunions have previously been held. This is the fifth Thunderbolt Reunion organized by the Thunderbolt Owners Association. In 2009, with over sixty Special Guests in attendance, all that have been contacted to date are again looking forward to attending this memorable event in June.

For tickets or for further information, please contact Dennis Kolodziej at dennis.kolodziej@fairlaneclubofamerica.com.

All day Saturday -- Show Day! -- right at the hotel. The showfield will be up and running by 8 am and you don’t want to miss anything! Registration closes at 11 am, but the sooner your car is situated with its class, the better. It’s hard to restrain folks from voting early, but we do ask that no ballots be finalized until at least 11:30 am. See Parking Director Dennis (‘He Who Must Be Obeyed’) for assistance with locating your Class area, and particularly for parking of Trailers.

Photos of registered cars will be taken beginning Saturday morning. Please close your hood for the photographer.

Cars are expected to be on the showfield until 4 pm. Please remember all cars on the showfield are required to have a fire extinguisher by the left front tire.

Judging of Concours and Unrestored Original classes will begin at 10 am. All judges will meet briefly for assignments at 9:30 am in the Great Lakes Center (GLC).

A Lunch Concession under the Big Tent will be available between 11 am and 1:30 pm.

Hot Wheels Mini-Drags will take place in the GLC Saturday at 3 pm. This fun event is for kids 14 and under (a parent must accompany participant). Bring your favorite Hot Wheels® car, preferably a FORD! Loaners will be available, and donations of cars (club models, if possible) are always welcomed.

Our Awards Presentation Program will take place at the hotel on Saturday evening beginning at 7 pm (GLC). This is an event in itself which you will not want to miss! Celebrate along with your fellow Fairlaners as both judged and member-voted cars are recognized and awarded. A representative of Ford Motor Company is coming to speak with us, and we’ll finish the night with Raffles and Door Prizes from some of your favorite vendors. Special Note: For all members interested in the future trends of the FCA, make sure you come early for the Project 2019 discussion beginning at 6:30 pm.

Sunday morning offers the opportunity for Christian Fellowship at 7 am in the GLC before departure. Farewells in the parking lot start early, and the North Lot must be emptied of cars and trailers by noon.

You’ll want to make sure there’s room in your schedule for visits to great spots like Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum; http://www.thehenryford.org/village/index.aspx. If heading into Detroit, there’s the Motown Museum, Hitsville US. www.motownmuseum.org. Check out www.VisitDetroit.com for a digital visitor’s guide, or request one by mail after April 15. With many great opportunities in mind, our special FCA room rate ($99+ tax, 1-4 occupancy) at the Adoba Hotel-Dearborn, 600 Town Center Dr, Dearborn, MI 48126, extends from Sunday, 6/22/14 through Wednesday, 7/2/14 (on a space available basis prior and post our 6/25--6/29 show dates). Call 313-592-3622 and ask for the Fairlane Club of America rate, or reserve online at www.adobadearborn.com using the code: FLCA. Hurry! Certain room types are in short supply. Hope to see you there!
